sletch2003 made this F-104 Starfighter, which was one of Kelly Johnson’s first designs at Lockheed and also formed the basis of the U-2. It was the very first model kit that I ever built as a kid. My dad gave it to me when we lived in Puyallup, Washington, near the McChord Air Force Base.
sletch2003 has modeled it in Belgian Air Force livery, of course.

This is one of the best aircraft videos I’ve ever seen. It has everything!! Be sure to watch through to the end and see the twilight take-offs and fly-bys. I believe these are some of the last operational F-104s being flown by the Italian AMI.

The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter was an American single-engined, high-performance, supersonic interceptor aircraft that served with the United States Air Force (USAF) from 1958 until 1967. One of the Century Series of aircraft, it continued in service with Air National Guard units until it was phased out in 1975. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) flew a small mixed fleet of F-104 types in supersonic flight tests and spaceflight programs until they were retired in 1994.2 Several two-seat trainer versions were produced, the most numerous being the TF-104G.
